Message are not completely directly related. The max boost is dependant of cylinder pressure levels, which corresponds to cylinder temperature levels that are checked with EGT probes right after the head and before the turbos. This often not realized and always over looked thinking because you are running higher boost you must run higher octane. The ideal gas law makes it real simple PV=nRT Pressure * Volume=n * rate * temp. This of also why the reason you can run more boost on intercooler versus non intercooled you will realize that all revolve around the same factors.


While the generalization often holds true that you must run higher octane at higher boost it is because as you run higher boost you are also running a higher charged air temp and are creating more horsepower. The other realization is as you make more horsepower you are making creating more heat therefore higher cylinder temps and cylinder pressure levels. Therefore no what compression level you run will still have the the requirement of higher octane so that it can better surpress detonation to go above a certain horsepower level.

Your turbos have a lower charged air temp than say the TD05-16Gs simply because the wheels are running at slower speeds and the housings are larger.

I think running anything lower than 8.5:1 compression is not ideal. I have a dyno program that can simulat what your horsepower levels would be anything from 7:1 or 10:!.

whats wrong with running race gas or a race gas mix? How often do you need to run your car at full tilt?

Here is a good question do you know when your cars turbos are at max efficiency? This the how you should be setting up your car for the turbos max efficiency their sweet spot.

I personally recommend you run atleast 8:1 if not 8.5:1 or 9:1 to simply get your car moving along faster off the bottom end.

Dyno tune your car for race gas and pump gas and have a switch to be able to go between the two. You can actually run higher boost on pump gas if you adjust your fuel and timing for it. If you find that your turbos require the higher boost to better in a better part of your turbo efficiency.

And if you simply don't want to run race gas then run water injection or something else like tolune or etc.
